SALARY RANGE:  14.83 – 21.55

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·         Set up and operate CNC lathes to perform a variety of machining operations, to trace complex profiles requiring changes in set-up, speeds, feeds and tool angles.

·          Read and interpret prints and calculate or determine dimensions. 

·         Grind or sharpen single point tools. 

·         Check for concentricity, formed sections, steps or shoulder to close +/- tolerances of 0.001” or less for faulty operation or defective material.

·         Set-up and/or operate various drill presses involving drilling, taping, reaming, countersinking.

·         Use jigs and fixtures, block or shim parts to level and align the irregular shaped parts.

·         Maintain work area, equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly condition. 

·         Report any problems or difficulties to the supervisor.  Operate the manual, automatic and tape controlled machines according to prescribed methods and procedures as assigned. 

·         Perform other duties as assigned.  Must meet attendance and punctuality requirements for position.

 

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND COMPETENCIES

Education: 

H.S. Diploma or GED.

Technology Certificate from an educational institution or direct experience preferred

Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering or related field preferred

1-3 year’s experience within a manufacturing environment.

 

 

Other Essential Experience/Skills: 

·         Familiar with all types of machine and cutting tools and machine shop practices. 

·         Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing knowledge helpful.

·         Experience with setup or changeover reduction

·         Experience with CAD/CAM systems run tool paths and generate CNC programs through post processors for various CNC machines. 

·         Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures.

·         Self-starter, organized, thorough and meticulous, able to work under pressure.

·         Experience in a technical environment is preferable

·         Good communication skills.

·         Able to plan work and commit to meeting deadlines.

·         Dedicated to high degree of accuracy.
